Do what you love. I have been so blessed to be able to do just that.

Way back in 1989, I dove into the weird world of personalization. The craft show scene was at it's peak and we signed on with the traveling circus. My mother, Lyla, and I took on every "Arts in the Park", every school or church bazaar, you name it. We were there! "Signature, Lmtd." (as we were known then) blazed through the scene. People loved to watch the artist create their ideas as they watched...even when it was raining!! It was so much work...and even MORE fun.

Moving to Sioux Falls, SD brought on the next phase-- a very small shop in the heart of downtown. We would actually empty the entire store to do a show....and then spend the next 2 weeks to resupply the store or for the next show. Again, it was grueling, but satisfying. People loved the fact that we would put THEIR feelings and ideas into functional design. So many truly creative people on the road, but it was time to settle down.

After moving, and moving, and moving, we settled as Painted Prairie, Inc. on 41st street in Sioux Falls. What a ride. Fantastic artists through the years made for an impressive place of creation and close connection with our customers. Many have come to be close friends and really, a family. Again, doing what you love is rewarding and the key to success.

Now, Painted Prairie, Inc. has relocated to my old stomping grounds of Fort Collins, Colorado. Kind of starting over, I am so happy to be able to do what I love. In this move, I have also re-connected with why I do this. It is so YOU can get exactly what you want, because YOU have so much to say. PPI is still the perfect place for creative, unique, and thoughtful ideas to be expressed in a functional way.

Painted Prairie has evolved into a place that gets to know YOU, and we make you THINK when you "give". So many people out there have so many meaningful, important things. to say...we are so grateful to be a part of it. I, personally, love to give a great gift. With that as our basis, you will find it as rewarding as I do.
